This Cookie Policy explains how Social Dance Tech Ltd ("we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on socialdance.net and on related websites, pages, checkout flows, organiser-branded pages and custom-domain pages powered by our platform (together, the "Platform").
This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. About Us
We are Social Dance Tech Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 16618392 and registered office at Belmont Suite Paragon Business Park, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Bolton, United Kingdom, BL6 6HG.
If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, you can contact us at info@socialdance.net.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites and online services function properly, work more efficiently, remember information about your visit, and in some cases help website operators understand how the site is used.
In this policy, references to "cookies" also include similar technologies used to store or access information on your device, including pixels, tags, scripts, local storage objects, software development kits and similar tracking technologies.
3. Why Do We Use Cookies?
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- operate, provide and improve the Platform;
- enable log-in, account, checkout, wallet and other core platform features;
- keep the Platform secure and help prevent fraud or misuse;
- remember your settings and preferences;
- understand how users interact with the Platform and improve performance and usability;
- measure the effectiveness of communications, journeys and campaigns; and
- where enabled and permitted, support advertising, retargeting and related analytics.
4. Types of Cookies We Use
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are necessary for the operation, security and core functionality of the Platform. They may include cookies that:
- enable you to log into secure areas;
- keep you signed in during a session;
- support checkout, payment and wallet functionality;
- help detect fraud or abuse;
- support load balancing and technical performance; and
- remember your cookie choices.
These cookies are always active where they are required for the Platform to function or where they otherwise fall within a lawful exception.
4.2 Analytics and performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Platform, including which pages are viewed, how users move through the Platform, where users encounter issues, and how the Platform can be improved.
4.3 Functionality cookies
These cookies allow the Platform to remember your choices and provide enhanced or more personalised features, such as remembering language, region, display or account preferences.
4.4 Advertising and targeting cookies
Where used, these cookies and similar technologies help us and our partners measure marketing performance, understand referral sources, build audiences, limit repeated advertising, and show content or advertising that may be more relevant to your interests.
4.5 Social media and embedded content cookies
If we use embedded video, audio, maps, social sharing tools or similar third-party features, those providers may use cookies or similar technologies when you interact with that content.
5. Cookies on Organiser Pages and Custom Domains
Our Platform may power pages that appear under an Organiser’s branding or custom domain.
Where those pages are provided through our Platform, this Cookie Policy applies to cookies and similar technologies that we set or authorise in connection with the Platform.
An Organiser or third party may also use additional integrations, embeds or tools on those pages. Where that happens, additional cookies or similar technologies may be used, and those may also be subject to the Organiser’s own notice or the relevant third party’s own privacy or cookie information.
6. Consent Banner and Cookie Choice
When you first visit the Platform, you will be shown a first-layer cookie banner giving you clear choices about non-essential cookies.
That banner will allow you to:
- Accept all non-essential cookies;
- Reject all non-essential cookies; or
- Manage settings and choose which categories of non-essential cookies you allow.
Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing or using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.
If you do not consent to non-essential cookies, this should not prevent you from using the main parts of the Platform, although some features may work less effectively.
7. Cookie Settings Link and Changing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by using the settings page within your account area.
Using that link, you can review and update your cookie choices, including withdrawing consent for any non-essential cookies previously accepted.
Any withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of cookies already used before withdrawal, nor will it affect strictly necessary cookies required for the Platform to function.
8. Browser Controls
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies.
Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the Platform may not function properly.
9. Third-Party Cookies and Providers
We may use third-party service providers in connection with the Platform, including for payments, hosting, analytics, communications and, where enabled, advertising or embedded content.
Depending on the way the Platform is configured from time to time, these providers may include services such as:
- Stripe for payment, fraud prevention and payment-related security;
- Google Analytics or similar analytics services for usage and performance analytics;
- hosting, infrastructure and security providers; and
- advertising, social media or embedded content providers, where those features are enabled.
Where third-party cookies or similar technologies are used, we will identify them in our cookie register and/or consent tool together with their purpose and, where appropriate, links to further information.
10. How Long Cookies Last
Some cookies operate only for the duration of your browser session and expire when you close your browser.
Others remain on your device for a longer period so that the Platform can recognise your device, remember your preferences, or support analytics or other functions when you return.
The duration of each cookie should be stated in the cookie register and in the cookie settings tool where applicable.
11. Updates to the Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, regulation, guidance, technology or the way the Platform operates.
When we do so, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy.
